La levée de corps de l’artiste a eu lieu hier jeudi 28 juillet 2011 à l’hôpital de la garnison militaire de Bonanjo à Douala. Elle sera inhumée demain à Mamfé.
Bébé Manga for ever *
Consternations cet après-midi du 28 juillet 2011 autour de la dépouille de Bébé Manga. Artistes, amis, connaissances et fans ont tenu chacun à rendre un dernier hommage à l’une des divas de la musique camerounaise et africaine. L’assistant au célébrant du jour fait bien de rappeler à l’orée de la célébration liturgique, l’objet de cette triste assise : «Nous sommes là pour rendre hommage à notre idole de la musique. J’ai nommé Elisabeth Bessen Manga». Le corps sans vie de Bébé Manga englouti dans un cercueil en bois, est exposé sur un tapis rouge avec de nombreux bouquets de fleurs tout autour. Ceux qui doutaient encore de ce que l’interprète de «Amio» ne compte plus parmi les vivants depuis le 1er juillet 2011, sont face à la triste réalité. Aussi douloureuse soit-elle. La bénéficiaire du prix d’excellence de l’édition 2009 des «Canal 2 Or», organisés par la chaîne de télévision à capitaux privés Canal 2 International, n’est plus. Une foudroyante crise cardiaque l’a brutalement arrachée à la vie. Certains, déçus par ce tragique coup du destin écrasent quelques larmes. D’aucuns se soutiennent la tête. Certainement pour se demander pourquoi c’est au moment où la musique camerounaise ne brille plus par la qualité, que la mort a raison d’une icône. Cette interrogation pour l’homme d’église, est un signe de manque de foi. Chacun de nous selon ce dernier devrait savoir qu’il «est poussière et qu’il retournera à la poussière. C’est un destin unique à tous les Hommes qu’ils soient pauvres ou riches, grands ou petits, faibles ou forts, sots ou intelligents, bons ou méchants». Dans une prière universelle, des amis de l’artiste et autres fans, ont recommandé son âme à Dieu auprès de lui.
La présidente du conseil d’administration de la société civile camerounaise de l’art musical (Socam), Odile Ngaska comme tous les autres artistes présents, s’est inclinée devant la dépouille de Bébé Manga où elle a dite une courte prière. L’ambassadeur itinérant, Roger Milla, aussi. La maire de Douala Ve, Françoise Foning manque de peu de s’écrouler quand elle découvre le corps inerte de l’artiste. La famille Bessen choisi de tout remettre entre les mains de son Créateur. Ils l’ont tous compris. C’est fini. Bébé Manga a avalé son acte de naissance. C’est désormais à travers ses chansons et clips qu’ils l’entendront et la verront. Le cortège a pris la direction de Limbé pour une grande veillée. Bébé Manga sera inhumée samedi 29 juillet 2011 dans son village natal à Tinto par Mamfe dans la région du Sud-Ouest. Mais, avant ce voyage sans retour, ses collègues artistes ont tenu, à travers une grande veillée où recueillement et spectacles étaient au menu, à rendre un
hommage mérité à Bébé Manga. For ever !
