Le recensement a été fait par les promoteurs du Festival international du court métrage de Douala (Ficod), en prélude à la 7ème édition dudit festival qui s’est ouvert samedi 3 mai 2014 à Douala.
La machine a commencé à tourner. La 7ème édition du Festival international du court métrage de Douala (Ficod) est ouverte officiellement depuis samedi 3 mai 2014 sous le thème, «cinéma et genre». Mais deux jours plus tôt, des troupes de cinéma ont mené un carnaval à travers les rues de la capitale économique. En proclament fièrement leur passion pour le 7ème art, ils réclamaient aussi, la réouverture des salles de cinéma et un peu d’intérêt de la part du gouvernement camerounais, pour la culture. En prélude à ce grand rassemblement, le directeur du festival, Michel Kuate et son équipe de l’association 7ème sens, ont dénombré 116 troupes de cinéma dans la ville de Douala. Une découverte à la fois heureuse et dégoutante. Pour ces professionnels du métier, c’est une grande joie de savoir que malgré la mort programmé du cinéma dans notre pays, il existe encore des jeunes qui y croient et en font leur passe-temps. Ces jeunes se réunissent en moyennes 3 fois par semaine pour travailler. Malheureusement, ils ne sont pas professionnels. De l’écriture du scénario, au jeu d’acteur en passant par des détails et précisions techniques, rien n’y est. C’est pourquoi, soutient Michel Kuaté, «leurs films ne traversent pas leurs quartiers. Pour ceux qui se battent, les films ne traversent pas le pont du Wouri». Le cinéma, est pourtant, un art universel. Pour rehausser leur niveau, deux ateliers de formation sont au programme du Ficod 2014 à l’intention de 12 troupes selectionnées. L’un sur l’écriture du scénario animé par Théophile Ngwe II et l’autre sur le jeu d’acteur, dirigé par Jonas Embong.
L’émergence à l’horizon 2035
Pour cette 7ème édition, le Ficod affiche 23 courts métrages en compétition dont 12 du Cameroun et 9 autres africains et européens. Les dits films seront projetés du 6 au 8 mai à l’institut français du Cameroun de Douala, au complexe Manou et Eva et au Centre culturel camerounais. La présidente du jury est la directrice de l’Institut des Beaux arts de l’Université de Douala, Dr Annette Anguoa. Elle a amené avec elle, 13 étudiants pour dit-elle «leur apprendre l’expérience du terrain à travers ce festival». L’universitaire n’a pas manqué l’occasion qui lui a été offerte à l’ouverture du festival pour faire un petit court magistral. Elle a exhorté les cinéastes et cinéphiles à ne pas confondre la télévision (électronique) et le cinéma (mécanique), et de ne pas passer leur vie à improviser. Au représentant de la délégation régional des Arts et de la culture pour le littoral, elle a transmis un message pour la ministre de tutelle, Ama Tutu Muna : «il faut repenser le cinéma au Cameroun. On ne peut envisager l’émergence à l’horizon 2035 sans la culture».
En levée de rideau, trois films ont été projetés, «cette couleur qui me dérange» de Khardatia Pouye (Sénégal), «le vœu» d’Agnès Yogang (Cameroun) et «Une couleur de vie» de Benninga (Rca). Rendez-vous le 10 mai prochain à la clôture du festival pour les résultats.
