Ils sont réunis au sein de l’association camerounaise des journalistes critiques de cinéma (Cinepress). Elle a été présentée la semaine dernière au Festival international de courts métrages de Douala -Ficod- qui s’est déroulé du 3 au 10 mai 2014 à Douala.
Un noble challenge. C’est ainsi qu’on peut qualifier l’initiative prise par l’Association camerounaise des journalistes et critiques de cinéma (Cinepress). Son rêve est de rehausser l’image de marque du cinéma camerounais, lui donner un nom et le faire revivre par des critiques constructives. Pour cela, leur principale cible, sont les réalisateurs. «Nous souhaiterons qu’avant la sortie d’un film, que des réalisateurs soumettent leurs œuvres à notre appréciation», explique Martial Nguea, secrétaire générale de Cinepress. La quinzaine de membre de l’association que préside Pélagie Ng’onana se dit assez outillée pour apprécier objectivement toute œuvre cinématographique. Elle est d’ailleurs constituée autant de journalistes formés au cinéma que d’étudiants en audiovisuel et cinéma. Pour étendre son réseau, Cinepress se propose de participer à la formation des hommes et femmes de médias sur la culture et la critique cinématographique. L’objectif global étant, de «contribuer au développement de la critique et à l’épanouissement de la presse cinématographique au Cameroun».
Critic’s awards
Créée en 2001, l’association à but non lucratif, a organisé jusqu’ici, des ateliers sur la critique cinématographique au cours des festivals comme, Ecrans Noirs, Rific, Ficod, Fifmi etc. ; des rencontres et débats sur le 7ème art et a pris part, aux jurys dans différents festivals (Fespaco, Ecrans Noirs, Rific, Fifmi, Miss me benga…) Aujourd’hui, les membres de l’association animent le site internet, africine.org, qui appartient à la Fédération africaine de la critique cinématographique (Facc), dont Cinepress est membre.
Parmi ses projets, l’association envisage de créer des espaces «café ciné» où des films seront projetés suivis d’un débat entre le public et les professionnels. De ressusciter le bulletin périodique «cinepress Magazine», spécialisé dans le Cinéma, éditer un annuaire sur le 7ème art, créer un blog puis un site internet et surtout, une cérémonie de récompense, «critic’s awards» pour primer les génies du 7ème art.
En marge de ces projets, le public présent à l’Institut français du Cameroun de Douala ce jour-là a souhaité que Cinepress s’occupe aussi de l’éducation des consommateurs de cinéma pour qu’ils puissent distinguer le bon du mauvais.
