Elle se nomme Vanessa Oben Maya. Elle a été sacrée miss beach le 11 mai 2014 dernier à Limbé.
Une étudiante succède à une autre. Le 11 mai 2014 dernier, Valérie Kesse Ayem, miss beach de la 5ème édition a cédé sa couronne à Vanessa Oben Maya, étudiante en Ressources humaines à l’Institut panafricain de développement de Buéa. Agée de 25 ans, la miss beach 2014 mesure 1,75 mètres. C’est en larmes qu’elle a eu droit aux honneurs réservés à la miss de chaque édition. Des larmes de joie. Elle n’y croyait plus. Surtout quand elle s’est rendu compte de la valeur de ses quinze concurrentes. Une peur légitime. Car, elles étaient aussi belles les unes que les autres. Heureusement, le jury de cette 6ème édition présidé par André Bofia, ne défendait pas uniquement la beauté physique mais aussi la beauté intellectuelle. Pendant des heures, les candidates ont été soumises à diverses épreuves. Notamment des questions de culture générale, leurs connaissances des danses du patrimoine qu’elles ont exécuté et aussi un projet de promotion du tourisme au Cameroun que chacune des candidates a défendu.
Au terme de ces exercices ponctués de défilés en différentes tenues, trois candidates ont tapé dans l’œil du jury. Notamment la miss, Vanessa Oben Maya (21 ans et 1, 75 m), la première dauphine, Honorée Naoh (20 ans et 1, 70 m) et la deuxième dauphine, Jocelyne Mpouet Ebile (23 ans). Elles sont respectivement, étudiantes en Ressources humaines à l’Institut panafricain de développement de Buéa, étudiante en 1ère année Communication des organisations à l’Ecole supérieure des sciences et techniques de l’information et de la Communication (Esstic) à Yaoundé et étudiante en 2ème année à l’Ecole du personnel médico-sanitaire la rosière supérieure de Yaoundé. Elles remportent de l’argent et des cadeaux des partenaires à l’évènement.
Le projet miss beach a été lancé en 2009 par le groupe Seme beach (Eau minérale, hôtel). Durant toute l’année, les élues de cette 6ème édition porteront les couleurs de ce groupe que dirige, Yan Anoko.
