Le virtuose de la basse a donné un spectacle très enlevé jeudi 29 et vendredi 30 janvier 2015 à Douala.
Une sorte de restitution ! Il l’avait lui-même confié dans les colonnes du Messager la veille de ce spectacle. Et pour ce faire, il a donné beaucoup d’espace d’expression aux jeunes lors de ces shows très courus. Dès 20 heures ce jeudi, le hall de la salle de spectacle de l’Institut français du Cameroun de Douala est plein de fans. Trente minutes plus tard, les premières notes de musiques retentissent. C’est une jeune chanteuse qui ouvre la scène. Elle, c’est Léonie Langa, vainqueur de l’édition 2008 de la téléréalité, Star de demain et ex choriste du groupe Macase. Elle présente au public acquis à André Manga, son premier album. Une sélection de trois chansons à la fois langoureuse et enlevée. L’entrée étant consommée, place au plat de résistance. André Manga fait son entrée et s’installe sur scène. Sous les acclamations du public. Il est relax et très détendu. Ses musiciens en donnent l’air aussi mais pas pour très longtemps. Ils sont pourtant recrutés parmi les meilleurs au Cameroun. Il s’agit de Serges Maboma et Yello Gaza à la basse, Petit Jean Abanda aux percussions, Roddy Mbazoa a la batterie, Wilfried Etoundi à la guitare, Brice Essomba et Jules Tawembe au piano. André Manga est à la Piccolo (guitare basse électrique ou acoustique qui a une octave de plus que la basse conventionnelle). Comme un enseignant devant ses élèves, ses derniers sont admirateurs. En témoignent leurs sourires et leurs regards rivés sur le bassiste. C’est sa plus grande satisfaction : «d’avoir passé trois mois à former et à discuter avec ces jeunes. C’est ce dont ils sont besoin. Des gens qui répondent à leurs questions. Le pays est bourré de talents et je voulais leur faire comprendre qu’on n’est pas obligé de partir. Je crois que j’ai accompli ma mission», scande l’artiste entre deux chansons. La balade musicale peut commencer. De «Do Fa sol» d’André Manga à «Human nature» de Michael Jackson, en passant par Michel Jonas et Manu Dibango. Tout y est. La salle est inondée de sons agréables à l’oreille. En face, la réaction ne se fait pas attendre. Quand le public n’applaudit pas, il écoute l’air adulateur.

Le ton monte. Place aux rythmes enlevés. C’est la série des hommages. André Manga est tantôt au piano, tantôt à la guitare. «J’aime interpréter les aînés lors de mes spectacles parce que c’est eux qui nous ont montrés le chemin. J’en profite pour dire merci à André Marie Tala qui est dans la salle», dit-il. Aidé de ses choristes, Merveille Tsang’Mbe, Sandrine Nnanga et James Essi, il interprète les airs de Manu Dibango, Archangelo, Bobby Mac Ferin, Eboa Lottin, Ekambi Brillant, Michel Jonas etc. L’ambiance si chaude que dans le public, des gens se transforment spontanément en musiciens. Les uns pianotent sur les chaises, d’autres se penchent sur une guitare imaginaire ou tambourinent sur leurs cuisses. Sans transition, exercices live pour les choristes. «L’objectif de cet exercice, c’est que les chanteurs puissent transmettre des émotions à travers des onomatopées». Belle surprise. Les choristes se débrouillent bien. Merveille Tsang Mbé sen sort plutôt très bien. Deux heures de shows bien rempli. Seul hic de la soirée, l’aspect fade du podium. Il n’a pas été décoré. Ce serait bien pour Florent Mbia, le promoteur du spectacle, d’y penser la prochaine fois.
