La polémique autour de cette acte de Richard Bona, musicien d’origine camerounaise et de renommée internationale, me rappelle une anecdote.
Lors d’une réunion de rédaction au quotidien Le Messager, une grosse discussion éclate au sujet des positions de plus en plus dures de l’artiste concernant le Cameroun sur les réseaux sociaux. Pour les uns, c’était intolérable parce que c’est son pays d’origine et il n’a pas le droit d’en parler ainsi… surtout sur les Rs. Et les autres étaient plus tolérants et essayaient de comprendre. Et le Rec me donne la possibilité en tant que chef service culture, de trancher…ou presque. Ma position est constante encore aujourd’hui.
Richard Bona comme plusieurs Camerounais exilés ou installés tout simplement à l’étranger est frustré de la manière avec laquelle les choses se font au pays. Mieux, du traitement qui leur est réservé quand ils décident de revenir. Une nuit ; nous (journalistes) sommes allés l’attendre à l’aéroport international de Douala. Il venait pour un spectacle avec une partie de son orchestre et ses jeunes élèves américains. Dès qu’ils sont sortis du hall pour les interviews…oups ! Coupure de lumière. Imaginez la scène ! Tous ses élèves se sont spontanément agrippés à lui. Et plus tard quand la lumière est revenue, il se battait pour leur expliquer ce qui s’est passé. Et pendant son spectacle à Douala Bercy, une autre coupure d’électricité intervient. C’est quand même un grand artiste !
Récemment, Richard Bona a perdu sa maman mais n’a pas pu l’accompagner à sa dernière demeure. En gros, il ne sait même pas où elle repose. Et pour cause, des soucis avec l’ambassade du Cameroun. C’est quand même un grand artiste. Personne ne s’est indigné. Y a-t-il plus dur à vivre ? A la suite de cela, il a demandé à la Présidence de la République de retirer sa chanson d’une vidéo qu’elle avait conçue. On a applaudit. C’est quand même un grand artiste !
Psychologiquement, l’on peut en déduire que tout ce qui lui rappelle le Cameroun fait mal. On ne peut pas taper sur un enfant et l’empêcher de pleurer. Malgré cela, il aime ce pays. Il y est profondément attaché par son engagement (il a écrit une chanson pour les enfants tués de Ngarbuh), par la langue qu’il utilise dans ses chansons, les rythmes, les couvertures, les couleurs, la façon de s’exprimer etc. Bref, Richard Bona est Camerounais dans l’âme. Il manifeste (peut-être pas de la meilleure façon) son indignation comme plusieurs de nos frères qui veulent rentrés au pays ou tout simplement participer à son essor mais qui sont bloqués et leurs projets, sabotés à tous les coups. Personne ne leur enlèvera ce Lion Spirit. Mieux, ce Fighting Spirit. Je vous suggère de comprendre au lieu de verser dans la polémique inutile. Nous avons de la chance d’avoir la légende BONA !
